I am proud of my Scottish heritage and I like bringing small parts of that into my work when it makes sense, whether that is through colours, patterns or other design ideas. I enjoy both the design and coding side of projects and I like the challenge of taking something from an idea through to something that actually works. I can be quite competitive and I always want to do well, but I also know that you don’t get everything right first time. I try to take something from every project, whether it goes well or not, and use that to improve my next piece of work.
How I got into design and development
My journey into this field started at school, where I focused on art and design while also studying computing. I have always enjoyed the creative side of things, which originally led me towards studying digital art at college.
I later realised that digital art wasn't the direction I wanted to continue in, so I moved into computing. From there, I went on to complete an HNC and HND in Web Design and Development.
My original plan before COVID-19 was to move into graphic design, but circumstances led me towards Web Design and Development at Edinburgh Napier University instead. I graduated in 2023 with a BSc (Hons) in Web Design and Development.
Design & Development
I work across both UX/UI design and web development, so I am happy to handle both the design and coding side of a project.
I like designing products that are straightforward to use and then being able to take those designs further by building them myself.
Accessibility is also something I consider when designing and developing, as I want the products I create to be usable by as many people as possible.

Respect
I believe in treating people with respect and creating an environment where people feel comfortable sharing their ideas.
Honesty
I would rather be honest when I don't know something and take the time to learn it than pretend that I already know the answer.
Reliability
If I say I am going to do something, I want people to be able to rely on me to follow through with it.
Improvement
I am always looking for ways to improve my work and learn from things that haven't gone the way I expected.

My interest in design started at school where I studied art and design alongside computing.

A bit more about me
Design and development are a big part of what I enjoy doing, but there is plenty I enjoy outside of my work as well.
Travel
I enjoy visiting places I haven't been before and experiencing different countries, cities and cultures.
Music
Music is usually playing while I am designing or coding. I mainly listen to pop, rock and EDM.
Football
I am a big football fan and follow a few clubs for different reasons, mainly through where I am from and family connections.
